1 Le contexte
Une chanson célèbre inspirée par des photos tristement célèbres (voir un exemple ci-dessous).
"In the last weeks of 1999, Time magazine voted “Strange Fruit” as the greatest song of the 20^th Century. This was one of the first songs that highlighted the horrific practice of a white mob lynching minorities in America. " (voir ici pour l'article complet)
La chanson est une forme de poème qui dénonce toute forme de racisme, et derrière la photo et la chanson on a ici une des premières 'protest songs'
"Written as a poem “Bitter Fruit” (inspired by photos of lynching victims) was first published in a union magazine in 1936 and later put to music by Meeropol. "I wrote 'Strange Fruit' because I hate lynching, and I hate injustice, and I hate the people who perpetuate it." Along with his wife Anne and black singer Laura Duncan, it was performed as a protest song at a show in Madison Square Garden."
